The fourth edition of Arquiteturas Film Festival — an international film festival in Portugal screening documentary, experimental, animation and fiction films about architecture — takes place between 12 and 16 October, in Lisbon.
This year’s programme focuses on topics associated to the expression Rehab Nation, approaching issues such as rehabilitation of historical centres, lack of investment in social housing and new forms of intervention in the urban space.
The festival was presented on October 5, during the opening to the public of the new building of Lisbon’s Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT). On October 10 and 11 there will be a warm up with the première of two documentaries about architects Álvaro Siza and Carvalho Araújo. The official opening happens on Forum Lisbon, on October 12, with the screening of the film Apropos of Leixões.
Some of the highlights include the cycle called Charles and Ray Earnes’ Films, taking place in the Portuguese Cinematheque — Museum of Cinema, in Lisbon, which includes two sessions about the way the two designers used cinema as a part of their design process.
