Two Lisbon theatres are organising the event Glorious Summer – Shakespeare Festival starting from today, Friday, July 8. The aim is to mark the 400 years of the death of the famous British playwright.

Theatres Nacional D. Maria II and Municipal S. Luiz jointly organise this festival, which will end on August 13.

The programme includes the exhibition of a number of films based in some of Shakeaspeare’s plays in several venues of Portugal’s capital, the organisers say in a press release quoted by the Portuguese press.

The festival also features several plays based on Shakeaspeare’s work.
