A new association called Performart — Associação para as Artes Performativas em Portugal (Association for the Performing Arts in Portugal, in a free translation to English) is to be officially created tomorrow, October 25, 11:30, at the Mosteiro de São Bento da Vitória, in Porto, Portugal. The association aims at promoting the different ways of cultural and artistic expression, nationally and overseas.
“The mission of Performart is to, among other goals, promote efforts and initiatives that allow the recognition and the healthy and sustainable development of show business and its professionals,” according to an official note. The association also aims at creating “analysis” and “reflexion” spaces, organising working groups, conferences, researches, as well as promoting shows of its associates and partnerships between the different members.
The association’s founding members are: Teatro Nacional São João, Porto’s City Council, Instituto Politécnico do Porto, Fundação Centro Cultural de Belém, Fundação Casa da Música, Fundação Serralves, OPART, Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II, EGEAC, Teatro Viriato, Centro Cultural Vila Flor, Academia Contemporânea do Espetáculo – Teatro do Bolhão, Teatro Experimental do Porto and Teatro Municipal de Almada.
