Wang Shu e Lu Wenyu will be in Portugal for the first time in June, following an invitation by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, Portuguese newspaper Público reported. Wang Shu won the Priktzer Prize in 2012 for the work he — and his wife, Ms Lu — had accomplished in their atelier Amateur Architecture Studio.
The Amateur Architecture Studio was established in the end of the 1990s, in Hangzhou.
The Amateur Architecture Studio has been one of the representatives of a practice that critiques the uncontrolled model of development of Chinese cities, the newspaper said.
According to the media outlet, the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon is organising this year the International Conference EAAE (European Association for Architectural Education) / ARCC (Architectural Research Centers Consortium), under the theme “Architectural Research Addressing Societal Challenges”. The event will be held from June 15 to 18 and Mr Wang and Ms Lu will be doing a talk at the opening of the International Conference, at 6.30, at Aula Magna.
