The first edition of ARCOlisboa will be held in the Portuguese capital city between May 26 and 29, at Cordoaria Nacional.
According to Portuguese online newspaper Observador, the fair will gather “45 art galleries” and “more than 100 guests related to contemporary art”. The event involves a 1-million euros (9.1 million patacas) investment.
ARCOlisboa marks the arrival of the famous Spanish art fair to Lisbon. Among the 45 participating art galleries, 19 are Portuguese, including Cristina Guerra Contemporary Art, Baginski and Múrias Centeno. Other galleries come from countries including Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, Colombia, Brazil and the United States, according to the newspaper.
ARCOlisboa will also welcome Portuguese independent publishers and bookshops to an area in the venue called “As tables are shelves”. The fair will also host debate sessions about Portuguese art in an international context and about collecting.
