The exhibition Verbicovisual is taking place at Galeria Zé dos Bois, in Lisbon, until April 17. It features a retrospective on the first generation of Portuguese experimental poets.
It features works and publications of authors such as E.M. de Melo e Castro, Ana Hatherly, António Aragão, Salette Tavares, José-Alberto Marques, Liberto Cruz (Álvaro Neto), Abílio-José Santos, Herberto Hélder, António Barahona da Fonseca and Silvestre Pestana. The exhibition focuses on the period that goes from 1959 until 1974. Ideogramas, published by Melo e Castro in 1962 — considered one of the fundamental works in introducing the genre concrete poetry in a Portugal under a dictatorial regime — is the central piece.
The exhibition takes place from wednesday to saturday, from 7 pm to 11 pm.
