The drawing exhibition of Manuel Vieira, titled Phonógrafo is to open on November 23, 7 pm, at the Fado Museum, and will last until December. This is just one of the events organised to celebrate the day in which UNESCO included Fado in the World’s Intangible Cultural Heritage lists, but there will also be concerts and book launches.

The Phonógrafo exhibition starts with the poem Fonógrafo by the Portuguese author who resided in Macau, Camilo Pessanha, but the artist also revisits mithology and focuses on Fado characters like Joaquim Cordeiro, Frutuoso França and Joaquim Pimentel.

On November 27, 2011, UNESCO included Fado in the World’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. To celebrate this date, the Fado Museum is promoting several initiatives, including the launching of two books related to Fado: Fado Malhoa, an original comics by Nuno Saraiva, and Há Fadistas, by Teixeira Neves.
