The Portuguese painter Natália Gromicho will launch an art book titled Do Ocidente para o Oriente (From The West To The East, in English) on May 25, in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon.
According to a press release, the book includes images of several large format art works Ms Gromicho produced between 2012 and 2016. Those works were inspired by India, East Timor, China and Singapore.
The book, published by Edições Vieira da Silva, follows an exhibition she had last year with the same name, at Museu do Oriente, in Lisbon. That showcase featured 71 paintings in oil, acrylic paint on canvas and mixed media, completed between 2012 and 2016. It was the artist’s s first big solo exhibition in a Portuguese museum.
Ms Gromicho was in Macau last year to take part in an artistic residency at Fundação Oriente, where she performed live painting. That experience resulted in a total of 13 abstract paintings made in and inspired by Macau.
Ms Gromicho is based in Lisbon and has exhibited her work in several countries. She is represented by galleries and art consultants in a number of nations.
Her art book will be launched on May 25, 6 pm, at Museu do Oriente.
