Letters from War by Ivo M. Ferreira was the big winner of the 2017 Sophia Awards, gathering nine trophies, including Best Film and Best Director.
Letters from War also won Best Adapted Screenplay, Editing and Cinematography, among other technical sections.
Other winners included Ana Padrão, for her role in Game of Checkers, and Mother Knows Better, Nuno Rocha’s comedy, which emerged victorious in the supporting performances categories, earning seasoned thesp Manuela Maria the Best Supporting Actress Award and Adriano Carvalho Best Supporting Actor.
