The Lisbon Psych Fest (LPF) returns this Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16, to the capital city of Portugal. The annual festival — first launched in 2015 — will be held at Teatro do Bairro, in Bairro Alto’s neighbourhood.

“The second edition of LPF reaffirms a strong desire to continue to explore new and exciting alternative music within the current psych revival while encompassing all its vectors including, but not limited to, shoegaze, spacerock, psych-folk, krautrock, synth-pop, neopsychedelic rock, post-punk, noise and experimentalism,” the organisers say in the event’s official website.

“Embracing the city itself as a cultural hub, the event will also feature mind expanding visual art, vinyl and merchandise stands, as well as DJs from the Lisbon rock n’ roll scene spinning tunes throughout the night,” the organisers add.

The programme of the event includes concerts by Underground Youth (UK); 10 000 Russos (Portugal); Chicos de Nazca (Chile); Chui Wan (China); Sun Blossoms (Portugal); and Ganso (Portugal), on Friday.

On Saturday, there will be performances by GNOD (UK); The Altered Hours (Ireland); You Said Strange (France); Tau (Germany); Alek Rein (Portugal); and Twin Transistors (Portugal).

On Thursday, a concert by Jacco Gardner and Helena Espvall, at Galeria Zé dos Bois, marked the beginning of the festival.
