The 86th edition of Lisbon’s Book Fair will open tomorrow, Thursday, May 26, at Parque Eduardo VII, in the city’s centre. The fair will last until June 13.
According to Portuguese newspaper Público, this year’s edition sets a record number of pavillions — 277. The organisers expect half a million visitors this year, the media outlet said.
Besides the sales of books, autograph sessions and debates, this year’s edition will also include cinema, in a partnership with Cinemateca Portuguesa aimed at celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of author Virgílio Ferreira.
The fair will feature more than 40 street food venues and there will be show cooking.
The programme also includes the initiative for children Camping with Stories, which is already sold out ahead of the event.
