The Portuguese publishing house Chiado Editora will organise the iniative Um Livro Num Dia (One Book in One Day, in English), to celebrate World Book Day, on April 23.

The programme starts at 9 am, in Rossio, Lisbon. Chiado Editora will have a mobile office installed and people may submit their original texts, so as to be a part of this special edition. Stories should be submitted in a digital format, with no more than 2.000 characters, until 12 pm.

The publishing house will show to all the different phases behind the editing process of a book. “All phases of constructing a book can be seen in loco — from revision to book pagination and cover design. At 1 pm, the book goes to the print house,” according to a note sent to the media. At 6.30 pm, 1.000 copies of the book will be distributed for free, on the same location, to the public.

In the afternoon, the mobile office will be opened to the public.

This is the third year Chiado Editora organises this initiative.
