The theatre troupe Companhia João Garcia Miguel will stage the play Romeu e Julieta (Romeo and Juliette) between tomorrow, Tuesday, and Friday, at Teatro Ibérico, in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon.
Directed by João Garcia Miguel, the famous text by William Shakespeare is interpreted by David Pereira Bastos and Sara Ribeiro.
The production is part of the research and creation processes developed by the theatre group on European classics. According to a note published in the website of Teatro Ibérico, that work involves “study, translation, adaption of concepts to contemporary performing languages”. The aim is to “reflect on Europe and the ways of life and life models that have appeared throughout its history”.
