Oscar-nominated Stuart Dryburgh will host a workshop on cinematography, in Oporto, Portugal, between April 8 and 9. The workshop is designed for anyone serious about a career in the film business.
“The overall theme of the workshop will be: how Stuart applies 30 years of shooting on film to shooting in the digital age, and what younger cinematographers can gain by ‘thinking film, shooting digital’,” the organisers say in a note sent to the public.
It will be a 16-hours workshop proposing to cover different topics, divided into five big themes: Essence of the Craft, Getting There, Prepping, Shooting and Light.
Stuart Dryburgh has an extensive resume, which include the cinematography on films such as The Piano, Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and HBO series Boardwalk Empire. He is currently developing several projects, including the cinematography in Zhang Yimou’s The Great Wall, starring Matt Damon, Pedro Pascal and Willem Dafoe,
