The Lisbon International Tango Festival started yesterday, June 1, in the Portuguese capital, and will last until Sunday, June 5. All shows and milongas — parties where people dance tango — are taking place in Voz do Operário.
In addition to shows and milongas, the festival’s programme includes workshops and tango lessons.
Tomorrow night, Friday, June 3, the show Puro Tango’16 will start at 9 pm, featuring a live orchestra and guest dancers. It will be followed by a milonga, from 11 pm to 5 am, featuring music by DJ Paulo Bernardo and performances by Dana Frigoli and Adrian Fereyra, as well as “suprise performances,” according to the programme.
The organisers highlight that the venue — Voz do Operário — built in 1912, has a suspended wooden dance floor of more than 600 square metres, “perfect for endless hours of dancing”.
