Taberna das Almas, in Lisbon, will welcome a vinyl records fair this Sunday, May 1st. For vinyl is “more alive than ever,” the organisers say.
“The market of the vinyl records mobilises thousands of people nowadays, between collectors, record companies, bands, DJs, stores, salespeople and music lovers, who found in this format a combination between the quality of the sound and the desire for the object,” the organisers state in the event’s official website.
Portugal, the organisers explain, has “dozens of stores and lots of independent salespeople” that provide a good offer and raise “a great interest” from the public, but there’s lack of a regular space “that could gather at one point stores’ and independent salespeople, record companies and the audience”.
The programme of the Feira de Discos de Vinil de Lisboa (Lisbon’s Vinyl Records Fair, in English) also includes an illustration exhibition by Canadian artist Darren Merinuk; a concert by Maximum R&B/Soul band Os Magnéticos; and DJs’ performances.
The event is organised by Groovie Records and Associação Recreativa Taberna das Almas and will last from 10:00 to 21:00. Admission is free.
