The exhibition Ad Lib — Recent Work of Konstantin Bessmertny features a total of 34 recent works by the Macau based Russian artist in such forms as paintings, sculptures and installations. It is on until May 20, 2017.
“Thirty four sets of work, which consist of paintings, sculptures, installations and videos from Mr. Bessmertny, will be displayed here. There is not a unifying theme, just like its Latin title which means ‘at one’s pleasure’,” says the president of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Ung Vai Meng, in a note published on the official website of the Macao Museum of Art. “In this generous exhibition space, the artist seems to improvise a bustling and humorous show that echoes different social phenomena, reflecting Bessmertny’s personal musings,” he adds.
Konstantin Bessmertny moved from Russia to Macau in 1993 and since then he has become one of most prominent artists residing in the territory. The artist’s work is included in numerous public and private collections, in different institutions in Macau, Hong Kong, Mainland China and Portugal.
