A theatre event named BOK Festival  is taking place until July 3 in several small venues in Macau, under the theme Connecting Alternative Theatres.

The programme is divided into three main programmes and the Give it a Shot series. The main programmes feature the guest groups Living Dance Studio from Beijing and INSPIRE workshop from Hong Kong — the first ones will bring a documentary theatre show called Red and the latter ones a new media theatre performance named Deconstructed.

In addition, BOK Festival will launch the new Exchange Artists’ programme, created by Macau Experimental Theatre, featuring two actors from Taipei and Beijing performing a play by the Macanese dramatist Wong Teng Chi titled Amsterdam Études.

In Give it a Shot series, several independent artists, poets and handicraftsmen from different fields are to set out space, sound, text or video installations, “using the many small theatres in Macau to their full potential,” according to a press release.

BOK Festival is organised by Own Theatre, Macau Experimental Theatre and Point View Art Association, with the help of several non-governmental groups from Macau, including Hiu Kok Theatre, Theatre Farmers, Macau Music Power and Rolling Puppet Alternative Theatre.
